I graduated from Michigan State University (MSU) in the spring of 2015 with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education and my teaching major was Language Arts. I am currently nearing completion of a Master's of Arts in Educational Technology from MSU. I am from the Upper Peninsula of Michigan in a city (even though it is more of a town) called Houghton. I moved to South Carolina in August of 2016 when I was hired by Dorchester School District 2. I am currently employed by Carolina Voyager Charter School as a 7th and 8th grade English Language Arts teacher; this is my fifth year in the classroom. I have had wonderful mentors and experiences and will continue to embrace the opportunities that come my way! |
Outside of work, I have plenty of hobbies. Of course, as an English Language Arts teacher, I love to read. Some of my favorite authors include Ernest Hemingway, Sylvia Plath, and Emma Cline. I also love to do anything active. I love to run and am constantly creating workouts with one of my really good friends who is a personal trainer in Charleston. With all of the beautiful weather down here, it is easy to get outside and move around!
The final thing that I love to do is sing with my Dad. To this day, and when he was younger, he was in a band. When he was younger he was in a rock band and now plays much more mellow music with his fellow professor friends; their band is called Uncle Floyd. When I am visiting, I get to perform with them and it is so much fun! |
